Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Sunset Hills Ward. 

The “40 Days Closer to Jesus Christ” Book of Mormon Study Program is designed to strengthen our testimony of the Savior, Jesus Christ.  By prayerfully reading and pondering the Book of Mormon together as a ward family, we will grow in unity and testimony.

President Marion G. Romney said the following, “I feel certain that if, in our homes, parents will read from the Book of Mormon prayerfully and regularly, both by themselves and with their children, the spirit of that great book will come to permeate our homes and all who dwell therein. The spirit of reverence will increase; mutual respect and consideration for each other will grow. The spirit of contention will depart. Parents will counsel their children in greater love and wisdom. Children will be more responsive and submissive to the counsel of their parents. Righteousness will increase. Faith, hope, and charity—the pure love of Christ—will abound in our homes and lives, bringing in their wake peace, joy, and happiness.”

I firmly believe that if we diligently study the Book of Mormon; we, as individuals, families, and as a ward, will grow closer to our Savior, to our Father in Heaven, and to each other.

The following are suggestions to assist you in the “40 Days Closer to Jesus Christ” Book of Mormon study program.

1.     Arise early each day.

2.     Generate the Spirit daily;

a.     By humble, fervent (sometimes vocal) prayer.

b.     Pray for a burning spirit of testimony, love, and charity.

c.     Meditate about yourself and your family.

d.     Ponder the Thought and Scripture of the Day.

3.     Organize your day and include the following:

a.     Complete scripture reading program.

b.     Wise use of your time.

c.     Family prayer.

d.     Commit to say only positive and uplifting statements about others.

e.     Serve one person daily.

f.      Physical exercise.

4.     Attend the Temple or prepare to obtain a Temple Recommend.

5.     Try to obey all the commandments.

6.     Do quality Home and Visiting Teaching, 100%, each month.

7.     Hold Family Home Evening each week.

8.     Go the ‘second mile’ in your Church calling.

9.     Plan a date with your spouse once a week.

10.  Attend all Church meetings.

The following schedule is the Book of Mormon daily reading program. Please start the program Sunday, (March 29, 2015). Book of Mormon’s will be provided to each participant upon request. They can be marked in the margins with special inspirational thoughts, personal notations, etc…

Day 1

A doughnut wrapped in a bag.                     ‘Doughnut’ forget to call if you need us.

A bag of popcorn.                              We’re trying to ‘butter’ you up, but we enjoy ‘popping’ in.
